DHI is the developer of a series of software solutions for all types of aquatic environments: coastal, surface and underground marine, for applications in both natural and urban environments and in enterprises such as mining, industries, etc. Among the solutions developed by DHI is FEFLOW, one of the most powerful groundwater modeling software today and in which WST is a reference in Brazil and worldwide for teaching and applications.
In order to disseminate and homogenize the knowledge of this sector in Latin America, on the 10th to the 14th of August, DHI is hosting DHI’s First Digital Seminar for Latin America, whose main theme is “Potentiating solutions in aquatic environments”. The event will be divided into five main categories:
- Surface Water Resources
- Urban Waters
- Hydrogeology and Mining
- Coasts and Seas
To talk about this diversity of topics involving one of our most valuable resources, water, DHI has 20 speakers selected for being a reference in the subject, among them the President of Water Services and Technologies Nilson Guiguer, who was invited to teach at the on August 13 at 3 pm a lecture on “Hydrological modeling and recharge estimation using MIKE-SHE”. In this presentation, it will be discussed how the current recharge estimate that actually reaches the water table is made in an empirical way, based on a fixed percentage of precipitation, and how the use of hydrological models in hydrogeological studies can be systematically integrated. This methodology is even more important in arid and semi-arid regions, where isolated precipitation events have a strong influence on effective recharge, which can vary strongly from year to year.
