WST offered a free mini-course for drilling wells at UFSC

The Water Services and Technologies Genologist Fernando Zulian, gave in November the mini-course on “Drilling methods and design of tubular wells for capturing groundwater” at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In this course, undergraduate and graduate students at UFSC, had the opportunity to learn the theory interspersed with practical exercise, on subjects such as:

  • Well types;
  • Drilling stages:
  • Project;
  • Planning;
  • Drilling until completion;
  • Pumping tests;
  • Submerged pump installation.

At the end of the course, he had a technical visit to a drilling rig in the lowering activity of CASAN – Companhia Catarinense de Águas e Saneamento.

At the end of the mini-course, additional lectures were presented, with subjects other than the course, addressing the following topics “Directional drilling for mine drainage” and “Project for the construction of wells for mineral dissolution”.

We would like to thank Prof. Neivaldo A. de Castro, the Federal University of Santa Catarina and CASAN, for the invitation that provided the exchange of technical knowledge with the future hydrogeologists of the state.
