On May 29, 30 and 31, Water Services and Technologies, in partnership with HidroGeo and ABAS-MG, offered the course “Environmental Hydrogeochemistry and Groundwater Monitoring”, given by Flavio Vasconcelos, Suely Mestrinho and Rafael Albuquerque .
In this course, several relevant topics were discussed, such as: Steps and activities required in a hydrogeochemical characterization work; Definition of monitoring programs; Legal aspects (focus on CONAMA Resolution 396/2008); Sampling procedures; Quality control (QA / QC); Data evaluation and interpretation; Reaction thermodynamics; and Hydrogeochemical modeling applications. Examples were shown in the mining area, including acid mine drainage, hydrogeochemistry in karst environments, among others.
Participants had the chance to do practical exercises using the AquaChem software. We would like to thank the course participants, from mining companies such as CBMM, Vale and AngloGold Ashanti, as well as government agencies such as IGAM, COPASA, CDTN, FEAM and CPRM. Due to the great success of the course, we hope to offer another one as soon as possible. Stay tuned on our website and social networks.
