Online Courses WST 2020 – 2nd Semester

Discover the options for online training courses in hydrogeology, modeling of subterranean waters and management of environmental data from Water Services and Technologies.

Improve your skills in hydrogeological software, join us in one of our online trainings!

Hydrogeology Applied to Mining

In this unprecedented 4-day course, we will bring together the expertise of seven WST professionals to share their experiences and skills acquired in decades of experience in the mining sector. You will have the opportunity to review basic concepts of flow and transport of contaminants and hydrogeochemistry, learn about well drilling and completion techniques, planning and executing aquifer tests, as well as numerical modeling, environmental data management, and geotechnical concepts applied to hydrogeology. In this online course, from the 22nd to the 25th of September, you will receive an intense training between 8:00 and 17:00 hrs, totaling 32 hours of training. . For more information access:

Basic Mathematical Modeling Course with Visual MODFLOW Flex

This 8-hour online course will cover the basic principles of numerical modeling of the flow and transport of contaminants in groundwater with practical applications in the Visual MODFLOW Flex software. Participants will have an introduction to mathematical modeling in groundwater and the opportunity to put the acquired knowledge into practice, developing conceptual and numerical models, using their main equations and algorithms in the Visual MODFLOW Flex software. For more information access:

Pumping Test Planning and Interpretation

In this online morning course (12 hours) you will combine the theory behind the essays with practical aspects focused on its execution and interpretation. Participants will be able to plan their tests according to the needs of the project and execute them correctly. In addition, they will learn how to select the most appropriate method for interpreting the results and how to calculate the hydrodynamic parameters of the aquifer. This, to carry out the determination of the type of aquifer based on the results obtained and to evaluate the performance and pressure loss in abstraction wells. For more information access:

Advanced Groundwater Modeling Course with Visual MODFLOW Flex

This online course will alternate theory and practical exercises in order to address the entire groundwater modeling process, including the development of conceptual models, construction of the numerical model, calibration, sensitivity analysis and simulations of multiple scenarios. The course will present the theory and practical development of three-dimensional groundwater flow and contaminant transport models using Visual MODFLOW Flex. For more information access:

Basic Mathematical Modeling Course with FEFLOW

This 8-hour online course will cover the basic principles of numerical modeling of the flow and transport of contaminants in groundwater with practical applications in the FEFLOW software. Participants will have an introduction to groundwater mathematical modeling and FEFLOW modeling software, with the main parameters and boundary conditions of Flow and Transport equations and will see practical examples of the development of flow and transport model of contaminants in FEFLOW. For more information access:

Advanced Groundwater Modeling Course with FEFLOW

This online course provides an introduction to groundwater modeling with FEFLOW software. Participants will have a review of the theory of flow and transport of contaminants in saturated media, as well as basic concepts to create three-dimensional models, run simulations and analyze scenarios using the FEFLOW software. As well as the acquired knowledge will be exercised in practice with modeling exercises at FEFLOW aimed at mining applications. For more information access:
