Application of Conceptual and Numerical Models to Aquifer Management – a study case in Northeast Brazil

17 de February de 2021 - 12:00 - 13:00

Free Webinar presented by the hydrogeologist Mauro Prado will show the results of a Water Services and Technologies study, in partnership with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Bahian Water and Sanitation Company (Embasa), which consisted in a hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical characterization, making possible to quantify the groundwater available to supply cities located in the region. This webinar will present:

– The methodology used to build a hydrogeological and hydrochemical conceptual model,

– Inedited interpretation on hydrogeology of the region,

– Quality of groundwater and aquifers vulnerability.

The conceptual model served as a basis for the construction of a numerical model using FEFLOW software. The results of the conceptual and numerical modeling will be show and how they helped to improve knowledge on water potential.

Soon, this webinar will be on the WST YouTube Channel!

Mauro Prado, Ms.C.

Graduated from the University of São Paulo, with an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, UK. He specializes in hydrogeology, water supply, water resource management and mathematical modeling of flow and transport of contaminants into groundwater. He has worked for many years on international projects in 6 continents. His area of expertise includes hydrogeology for mining, regional assessment of groundwater resources, and project management and characterization of contaminated sites. Other areas of experience and interest include drilling and completion of wells, protection of aquifers and use of water in the production of oil and gas.
