DHI is the developer of a series of software solutions for all types of aquatic environments: coastal, surface marine and underground, for applications in both natural and urban environments and in projects such as mining, industrial, etc. Among the solutions developed by DHI is FEFLOW, one of the most powerful groundwater modeling software today and in which WST is a reference in Brazil and the world for teaching and applications.
In order to spread and homogenize the knowledge of this sector in Latin America, DHI is holding, from August 10th to 14th, the First Digital Seminar of DHI for Latin America, whose main theme is “Potentializing solutions in aquatic environments”. The event will be divided into five main categories:
Surface Water Resources
Hydrogeology and Mining
Coasts and Seas
To discuss this diversity of topics involving one of our most valuable resources, water, DHI has 20 speakers selected for being a reference on the subject, including the President of Water Services and Technologies Nilson Guiguer, who was invited to minister at the on August 13 at 3 pm a lecture on “Hydrological modeling and recharge estimation using MIKE-SHE”. This presentation will discuss how the current estimate of the recharge that actually reaches the water table is done in an empirical way, based on a fixed percentage of precipitation, and how the use of hydrological models in hydrogeological studies can be integrated in a systematic way. This methodology is even more important in arid and semi-arid regions, where isolated precipitation events have a strong influence on effective recharge, which can vary strongly from year to year.
