Hydromechanical numerical modeling of tailings disposal in mining pits using PLAXIS Designer and PLAXIS LE

24 June, 2024 - 08:00 | 17:00 -03

Managing large volumes of tailings generated by mining is essential to ensure safe, efficient and effective disposal. Understanding the hydromechanical behavior of this material can be a challenge for geotechnical engineers, but it doesn’t have to be.
With the PLAXIS LE solution, you can evaluate multidimensional scenarios for densification analysis, taking into account the concept of small or large deformations.

During this free, online workshop, we will present Bentley’s incredible geotechnical solutions, PLAXIS Designer and PLAXIS LE, showing you in practice how you can easily carry out analysis and modeling of tailings disposal in mining pits.

Best of all, it will be a hands-on workshop! During the 3-hour workshop, you’ll get hands-on with PLAXIS Designer and PLAXIS LE, applying the knowledge you’ve acquired in practice with exercises designed especially for this event.

That’s why places are limited. This way, we can ensure that you leave this workshop with a practical understanding of hydromechanical numerical modeling of tailings disposal in mining pits.

What you get

– Lecture notes, in digital format
– Handouts of practical exercises, in digital format
– Temporary software licenses for use during training

Who will be teaching the course?

The course will be taught by Geotechnical Engineer Karen Ninanya, a certified Bentley Systems trainer.
Geotechnical Engineer, master’s degree from PUC-RJ, graduated in Civil Engineering from Ricardo Palma University (URP) with experience in soil mechanics, rock mechanics, numerical and underground modeling using geotechnical programs such as PLAXIS, FLAC2D, FLAC3D, Slide, GeoSlope. He is currently working on constitutive hydromechanical models for geomaterials, computational geomechanics and numerical methods applied to mining.
