In March, as part of Water Month, Hydroβwith technical support from Water Services and Technologiesβheld a strategic immersion on water governance for water resources professionals within the Bauxite and Alumina chain.
The meeting continued a structural agenda initiated in 2025 and reinforced water as a strategic pillar for operational efficiency, territorial water security, and operational sustainability, referencing frameworks such as the ICMM and AWS.
In the Amazonian context, where relationships with rivers, communities, and ecosystems demand high technical rigor and coordination, Hydro has been advancing the consolidation of water management that is increasingly integrated into operational routines and decision-making processes.
The immersion was led by the Water Resources Management team from Water Services and Technologies, represented by David Soares, Vinicius AraΓΊjo, and Gabriela Fleury. Key topics included the evolution of water resources management, the strengthening of governance, the role of water balance in management, and the integration of water into operational planning routines.
“The immersion was an important moment to consolidate the progress made and, above all, to align the next steps for water resources management,” says Vinicius AraΓΊjo, Water Resources Specialist at Water Services and Technologies. “More than just presenting concepts, we sought to co-build a practical path to strengthen water management in operations, expanding the use of tools and promoting greater integration between departments.”
Complementing the strategic vision of the project, Juvenal Andrade Neto, Environmental Analyst at Hydro, highlights the impact of this evolution on the business:
“This meeting reinforces an important movement by Hydro to evolve water resources management to an increasingly strategic and business-integrated level. We are advancing in the consolidation of practices that connect water use to risk management, operational efficiency, and territorial relationships, based on technical consistency and alignment with international references.”
By continuing this agenda, Hydro advances the strengthening of water governance as a structural element of its strategy, linking operational performance, risk management, sustainability, and relationships with the territories where it operates.
