Water Services and Technologies’ courses have trained a wide range of professionals in a variety of hydrogeology subjects, such as:

  • Modeling the flow and transport of contaminants in groundwater using well-known software such as FEFLOW and Visual MODFLOW Flex
  • Planning, execution and advanced analysis of the results of slug tests, pumping tests and well efficiency tests
  • 2D/3D geotechnical modeling for mining applications using Bentley Systems’ PLAXIS geotechnical solutions
  • Hydrogeochemical analysis, management and interpretation of water quality
  • Hydrogeochemistry in the context of mining and mine drainage diagnosis
  • Environmental and hydrogeological data management
  • Well drilling and completion techniques, among others

We have carried out customized training in Mexico and Kazakhstan, offered training for companies in Portugal, Chile and Costa Rica, as well as training for companies here in Brazil, such as Samarco, Nexa Resources, MRN, AngloGold Ashanti, Vale and the National Mining Agency (ANM), and hosted a delegation from Mozambique’s National Mining Institute for training in theoretical and practical aspects of hydrogeology, geophysics and mapping.

In addition, in partnership with Waterloo Hydrogeologic, we offered international training using the AquaChem and AquiferTest programs for professionals from all over the world.

We launched new courses at the Water Services and Technologies Academy, our online course platform, which hundreds of professionals have used to train.

We organized and participated in various events such as workshops, congresses, academic weeks and technical meetings. We were honored by all the invitations and thank the many professionals who took part in the events.

One notable event was the 1st São Sebastião Aquifer Webinar, held in partnership with Embasa, on the Hydrogeological Study of the Eastern Edge of the Northern Recôncavo Basin, which covered phase 2 of this project being carried out by Water Services and Technologies as part of the cooperation between Empresa Baiana de Águas e Saneamento S.A (Embasa), the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA Brazil) and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC).

We were present at the XXII Brazilian Groundwater Congress in SΓ£o Paulo, with the presentation of scientific papers by Christian Preis and Marcela Barbosa. In fact, Marcela was one of the winners of the Aldo RebouΓ§as award for young researchers, for her work “Time series and multi-thematic analysis of monitoring data from the Bauru aquifer system and its applicability to integrated water resources management”.

At FENÁGUA, the National Water Fair, which ran parallel to the Congress, we had our stand presenting the solutions, products and services we offer, exchanging experiences with visitors and meeting up with friends and fellow hydrogeologists.

We also had professionals from our hydrogeochemistry team present a mini-course at the 12th ICARD – International Conference on Acid Mine Drainage, showing a solution developed for geochemical numerical modeling, putting our mission of developing practical solutions and spreading knowledge to good use.

We also took part in the 17th Brazilian Congress of Environmental Engineering, where hydrogeologist and hydrogeochemist Rafael Albuquerque took part in the round table “Hydrogeology and Environmental Hydrogeochemistry in the Mining Sector”.

Finally, we would like to highlight the workshop we organized on Environmental and Water Resources Data Management in Mining, which took place in Belo Horizonte, where we presented solutions developed and implemented by our data management team, bringing clients such as Vale, Samarco, CBMM and Nexa to share some of the experiences, challenges and benefits of the projects we have developed together.
