Water Services and Technologies has a global contract with Vale S.A. to implement an Environmental Data Management System in all its units, which has already been implemented in more than 20 of Vale’s operational units throughout the country.
The process is currently being expanded to all of the company’s units around the world, including Canada, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, among others.
The database is managed by the Hydro GeoAnalyst (HGA) software developed by Waterloo Hydrogeologic, and complemented by routines developed by Water Services and Technologies, which allow integration between different databases, telemetry systems and servers, facilitating automation and quality control of data entry into the database.
Various dashboards and reports were also implemented for data visualization and interpretation, as well as alerts. Among the products developed for Vale is Visual Water Balance, a web-based water balance tool that allows the entire water circuit at each of its operations to be easily implemented and updated.
In addition, all the data can be viewed online in dashboards with corporate sustainability and water use indicators, thus enabling the identification of opportunities for reuse and savings for the company, reducing possible environmental impacts.
In addition to data on the quality and quantity of water resources, the Environmental Data Management System implemented by Water Services and Technologies at Vale also stores various hydrogeological data (pumping tests, lithological and construction profiles, water levels, among others), data from fauna monitoring campaigns (biotic environment), and global atmospheric emissions data.
Water Services and Technologies is proud to be able to support Vale S.A. in the proper, safe and efficient management of its environmental data.
