Water Management in Mining to be the Theme of an Event in Belo Horizonte

Topics such as Water Security, Numerical Modelling, and the Responsible and Sustainable Use of Water Resources will be discussed at an event that will promote dialogue among key players from mining, private enterprise, and government.

On May 7, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the capital of Minas Gerais will host the sixth edition of the “Water Resources Management in Mining” workshop, where several technical aspects involving the water and mining relationship will be addressed.

The workshop is an initiative of Water Services and Technologies, a Brazilian company specializing in technologies and services for environmental data and water resource management, with operations in Brazil, Canada, and Kazakhstan. The event will bring together water, environment, and sustainability experts, with participation from the Minas Gerais State Secretary for the Environment (SEMAD/MG), MarΓlia Carvalho de Melo, and speakers from companies such as Gerdau, Alcoa, VALE, along with various industry professionals.

“Water is one of the most important resources in mining as it is involved in every stage of the mineral process, from the initial exploration investigations to future post-mine closure use. At the same time, water is a finite resource essential for life and the environment. Therefore, discussions around the responsible and sustainable use of water in the mining industry are of utmost importance,” says Dr. Nilson Guiguer, President of Water Services and Technologies.

“We hope this edition of the workshop will serve as a forum where the productive sector and regulatory agencies can share their perspectives and learn about new technologies and solutions,” he adds.
