Founder Dr. Nilson Guiguer to Become Chairman of the Board; Rafael Cavalcanti de Albuquerque Appointed CEO Effective April 1, 2026

Effective April 1, 2026, Dr. Nilson Guiguer, founder and current Chief Executive Officer of WST, will assume the role of Chairman of the Board. In this new position, Dr. Guiguer will continue to lead the company’s long-term strategic direction, with a particular focus on innovation, growth, and the continued strengthening of WST’s institutional vision in the water resources and environmental sectors.

At the same time, Rafael Cavalcanti de Albuquerque, M.Sc., currently WST’s Director of Aqueous Geochemistry and CSM, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer. Rafael brings extensive technical and leadership experience in hydrogeology, acid and neutral mine drainage, groundwater modeling, geochemical modeling, and water resources management, particularly in complex mining projects. His appointment reflects WST’s confidence in its next generation of leadership and its commitment to operational excellence.
