Water Services and Technologies recently conducted training for the hydrogeology team at ERG – Eurasian Resources Group in Astana, Kazakhstan.
ERG is a leading mining and metallurgical company and one of the world’s top producers of essential commodities, including iron, copper, aluminum, and cobalt.
The training focused on the use and optimization of the environmental and hydrogeological data management system implemented at the company, managed by the Hydro GeoAnalyst Plus (HGA+) software, which Water Services and Technologies deployed across multiple ERG sites.
Over the five-day training, topics covered included the import and quality control of new data, as well as validation of existing data in the company’s database. Additionally, participants explored the system’s data visualization and interpretation functions, developing software visualizations that included maps, charts, well profile templates, cross-section interpretations, and water level interpolation for potentiometric mapping. The process also covered shapefile export for integration with other software, ensuring greater efficiency and precision in analyses.
The training was led by Inês Paolinelli Macedo Guimarães, a chemical, environmental, and sanitary engineer with Water Services and Technologies, with support from members of Water Services and Technologies’ subsidiary in Kazakhstan: Yernat Assenov, Rauan Zhanatov, and Akhmet Agzamov.
This marks the third training for the ERG group, aimed at maximizing the potential of the data management tool to support analysis and decision-making based on reliable and traceable data.
